MoonFlow
Mission control for the Hexabots — multi-purpose robots working in the harsh environment of the Moon. Assign a task, watch it run, and catch the alerts that cannot wait.
Designflows 2025, Bending Spoons — top 50 of 1,300 entrants

The three high-fidelity screens submitted: the dashboard sorted by task, with the one alert that needs a person put above everything else; the same fleet placed on an isometric map of the base; and the home-screen widget, where a running task can be watched, sped up or stopped without opening the app.

Designflows is Bending Spoons’ annual design competition, free to enter and run against a four-day deadline. Entrants get one prompt and are judged on the thinking as much as on the interface: define the product problem, work out the flow, and finish three screens.
The 2025 prompt set an alternate present in which part of humanity lives permanently on the Moon. Hexabots — multi-purpose robots — do the work that keeps the base habitable, and the task was to design the app that directs them.
- Two groups, one product
- Researchers run experiments and scientific missions with the robots. Residents use the same fleet for household jobs and logistics. Their priorities are not the same, and one interface had to hold both.
- The environment is the constraint
- The app is read by somebody who may be outdoors, in a suit, in bad light, with the robots throwing up dust while they work.
- What had to be handed in
- The product problem, a user flow, and three high-fidelity screens.
The flow
Twelve wireframes and every path between them: the dashboard in both of its arrangements — sorted by task and sorted by robot — the robot and task screens, focus mode, voice input, personalisation, and the home-screen widget in each of its two states. Orange is the main scenario; the rest are the supporting ones, and each arrow is labelled with what triggers it.

Legible at full size; the labels are small.
